The area of Salobreña

SalobrenaThis picturesque white town at the foot of the Sierra Nevada is situated on the beautiful coastline of the "Costa Del Sol" - called "Costa Tropical" it lies 96 km east of Malaga Airport.  Due to the wonderful warm mediterranian climate, it is an excellent choice for the winter months and there are numerous sights and attractions to explore in Andalucia.

SalobrenaSalobreña, with its 11,000 inhabitants is a beautiful white washed town, which is typical of Andalucia and is picturesquely situated on a hillside.  Along the promenade there are numerous possibilities to enjoy the culinary delights the region has to offer or have a drink and a chat to the locals in one of the localbars.
The interesting Moorish castle is located just below the town center and shows you the old Andalucia. The old town is characterized by many of the typical narrow streets and old fisherman houses.  The modern new town below the rock is home to numerous bars and restaurants and the shady Parque de la Fuente. .

SalobrenaSalobreña is still partially surrounded by sugar cane fields, with a golf course laid out between Salobreña and Motril. In the village of La Caleta, a neighbouring town to Salobreña, was the last European working sugar cane factory.  They produced in co-operation with the factory the famous local rum Lobres "Ron Palido"  Subsequently, the owners switched to fish and introduced a fish farm off the coast.
