Costa Tropical

Costa TropicalThe "Costa Tropical" is a coastal strip in the province of Granada, and a county (Comarca).
The result is the "Costa Tropical" which is the northern boundary of the Sierra Nevada.  Thus, the particularly cold winter.

Inland winds cannot reach the coastline, however, the winds from North Africa, can always reach the coast.  For this reason, climatically, the "Costa Tropical" is unique in Europe.  Because of this, sugarcane, dates, pineapples, bananas, avocados and other subtropical fruits are able to be grown all year round.

The "Costa Tropical" is also very attractive for tourism because it is possible to participate in watersports even in the wintertime.  Additionally, winter sports at the Sierra Nevada (about 100 km/ 60 minute drive away) are also possible.
